We are on the plane back to Miami and our entire team is ecstatic. Scrapblog’s demo was great. We didn’t get a DEMOgod award, but a lot of people commented that we would. To be fair, the companies that got them deserved it. I personally would have given an award to Dash or Wallop.
It is amazing what the DEMO experience has done for our little company. Now, a handful of investors are pitching to us (as opposed to us trying to get their attention). I was most excited that the last person to visit our station was a nice guy from Yahoo! Strategy and Corporate Development.
Our entire team will take the day off tomorrow to decompress from the DEMO experience. On Monday, we will be back on development mode to make sure that what we showcased at DEMO is available to the masses ASAP!

I know that there’s a lot of expectation around the rumor that I will do a back flip at the end of our demonstration at DEMO. Well, my partners, who have seen me rehearse, started the rumor. I guess you will have to wait until tomorrow to see.
Also rising the expectations, Marshall Kirkpatrick’s review in TechCrunch has brought a massive amount of attention to Scrapblog. I will report back as soon as we finish our demo.

We just finished our rehearsal at DEMO. It went very well. Omar and I feel much relief since we finished our demo rehearsal with 30 seconds to spare. I added a picture of the timer above so you get an idea of how nerve-racking being on stage could be. (It’s NOT representive of our rehearsal time.)
It was great to meet some of the other companies presenting in our segment, “Express Yourself”. I loved what Karl from Wallop showed during rehearsal. All I can say is “WOW!”. I definitely see myself using what Cuts presented. The fact that they have a great demo does not surprise me because Shel Israel also coached Evan Krauss, their CEO.
I’ll keep reporting in a while.

We’ve been working on Scrapblog for two years. Now, we are getting ready to present our new version at DEMO and it feels like we are just getting started.
Omar and I have spent the last three days in a hotel in San Francisco rehearsing our demo with Shel Israel. Shel has been amazing at highlighting the audience’s perspective and cutting out the things that only we care about. Yesterday, we met with Robert Scoble and he then wrote that “Scrapblog is awesome”, which was pretty awesome for us.
I’ve started companies in the past (Nobox is a very successful and profitable interactive agency), but Scrapblog is way different. It really feels like we are weaving a company together. So many great people from around the world have contributed to making Scrapblog so extraordinary. Just to give you an idea, our core team is in Miami, but we have contributors in New Zealand, India, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Wash. DC, San Francisco, and Russia.
I cannot comment specifically about what we are presenting, but it’s hard to contain the excitement. I’ll tell you this much… the main difference between our current beta and what we will be showing at DEMO is the positive feedback and suggestions of the 20K+ community of Scrapbloggers. If there is a decision that I cherish is having placed an early version of Scrapblog online for others to test and comment. If you are already a Scrapblogger, I thank you for all your support. I am sure that you’ll love the new Scrapblog. If you are checking us out for the first time, welcome and be ready to be thunderstruck.
I will now get back to rehearsing, before Shel gets on my case.
