Ryan Stewart just posted a great review of Scrapblog at ZDNet. I am particularly excited about this review because it comes from someone who’s blogs I read almost every day. Ryan is an evangelist of Rich Internet Applications and how they are changing the Web for the better.
I though it was very cool that Ryan shared the access we gave him with his wife as part of the review. From the screenshots they took seems like they were both having fun.
I love what we are doing. It was very rewarding to hear the “oohs” and “wows” as we presented at We Media. Apparently, rotating and resizing a YouTube video while it is playing always gets a big gasp from the audience. It was certainly fun to come out for air to show what we are working on, but I am back to reality now.

Reality for now has a lot to do with usability testing and making sure that our notions of what is EASY translate to a great user experience. In the era of HTML, good usability was very straightforward. RIAs (rich Internet applications) have disrupted this for the better. Since we do not have the limitations of HTML, we need to figure out conventions that are intuitive yet rich. That’s hard to do, but even harder to explain so here is a screenshot.

We gave TechCrunch a little preview of what we’ve been up to since DEMO. And they liked what they saw…
Scrapblog was already a great product. The new version runs more smoothly, has the look and feel of a proper desktop application, and has incorporated more types of media and editing tools.
