Scrapblog is a great way to record your experiences through stories, music, photos and videos. According to dictionary.com, a journal is defined as “a daily record, as of occurrences, experiences, or observations”
Journaling can sometimes seem like an afterthought when you are working on your scrapblog layouts. The photographs on your pages are only telling part of the story. I encourage you to sit down today and pull out your favorite photo, an index card (or piece of paper), a pen and write down all the reasons why you love your photo. Is it the people in the photo that you love? Does it remind you of a time you shared with a friend or an unforgettable vacation? What story comes to mind when you see your photo? Then create your scrapblog based on your notes, send it to your friends and family. I’m sure they want to see your photo stories come to life.
I was looking through my flickr photos for the one photo that I feel like is my “favorite.” I kept going back to this photo that my husband took of my nephew and I, just a few hours after he was born. It’s my favorite because it reminds me of the moment he came into the world. A lot happened in the hours before this photo was taken. When I look at it, the photograph seems so peaceful despite the chaos going on just moments before the snap of the camera. All the nurses, doctors, lights, medical instruments and the buzz of the hospital are replaced by the simple, sleeping sounds of this new little life.
Here are a few more scrapblog examples to get you inspired:
As wedding season approaches, we have two very lovely and elegant themes to complement your wedding photos. These themes were created by our talented in-house design team of Jen Revoltar and Amber Koller.
Japanese Flowers by Amber Koller.
This soft, quietly beautiful theme was created by our lead content designer, Amber Koller. Amber takes great pride in providing you with pretty and subtle ways to show off your photos. Her style is powerfully sophisticated and she uses the most elegant fonts available in the scrapblog builder. This theme includes over 50 stickers and 7 backgrounds. As you can see from the previews, you can soften your photos using the photo editing tool.
Romantic Wedding by Jen Revoltar
Your photos will take center stage when you use this tender wedding theme. The neutral backgrounds with lace accents will help you remember the fairy-tale that was your wedding day.
May 3, 2008 is National Scrapbook Day. Here at Scrapblog, we like to think a scrapbook is anything you create that tells a story. Your scrapblog creations inspire us everyday, so as we move closer to National Scrapbook Day we know you will enjoy all the new content for your story telling. Also, to help you get more creative with your pages, I created this scrapblog of all of current fonts so you can see them in one place.
The requests keep coming in for “more boy themes, please!” Preppy Boy from Lori Barnhurst fits the bill. Lori has such a fun sense of style and you can get your grunge on using the backgrounds and stickers. This is a great theme for all those boys (or men that refuse to grow up) in your life.
“Little Chicken” is a fun theme that was created by a local graphic artist in Coconut Grove, Valentina Ramos. I met Valentina at a local art show and I fell in love with all of her designs. You will be seeing some other really cute themes from her soon so stay tuned!
The final theme I will showcase for you today is “Kiss Me” by the Gypsy Chick. The Gypsy Chick creates beautiful digital scrapbook art and we are very pleased to offer her theme for you to use in Scrapblog. “Kiss Me” provides a variety of backgrounds and stickers that will be perfect for telling all your summer stories.
I realized sometime last week that I have not yet picked my own choices for the Friday Five since I’ve become a full time member of the team. This week I asked Stefy to help me choose some fun and beautiful scrapblogs. I do hope you enjoy them.
Everyday when I log into Scrapblog, I am totally amazed by the talented community we have. You all deserve to be featured here on the blog and hopefully we will get a chance to show off your work. So if you aren’t chosen this week, don’t worry, there is a Friday each and every week!
The first choice was Stefy’s. This beautiful black and white scrapblog created by the talented Franny Baggins. (She is one of my favorite scrapbloggers also!) What else can we say except this scrapblog is simply stunning!
Second on the list is Sean’s Playground created by Kevin Yang. Who doesn’t love babies? Especially this little guy who’s photos are paired perfectly with such cute journaling. Sean, your dad is one of a kind!
Our third choice is Katie, 6months to 1 year by lesliev2001. What really caught my eye were her beautiful photographs. I also was inspired by how she used stickers and typography to really bring her pages to life!
Stefy chose number 4, Circus by Bella Vita. Bella Vita takes full advantage of the photo cropping and editing tools in her pages. I personally love the circus and the Shrine Circus is a way to help fund hospitals for children. Thank you Bella Vita for creating this scrapblog!
Our final choice this week is a very charming one page scrapblog titled Nadya’s Garden. This scrapblog was created by a new member of our community, Lost Girl. Lost Girl has a knack for using stickers. She created such a cute page here, I couldn’t resist including it in this week’s choices!
Choosing only 5 scrapblogs was so much harder than I thought it would be. I think I could have added 12 more!!! If you click on my Scrapblogs I Love, you can see all the contenders for this week. Have a great weekend, take lots of photos so you can create more amazing scrapblogs!
Today is Earth Day and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than sitting down at my computer and creating a scrapblog scrapbook. I haven’t killed any trees today, I didn’t print my photos and I didn’t use any paper, I simply made a scrapblog. I love being able to preserve my memories digitally, it helps the environment and it’s fun!
Your Community Girl, Stefy also saved a tree or two today creating this Earth Day Scrapblog. It may surprise you to know that it’s Stefy that answers all the emails that you send to “feedback@scrapblog.com” She is constantly running around after all of us to make sure that your questions get answered. In addition, Stefy is taking classes in graphic design, she has a wonderful eye for color and her scrapblogs are something to be admired. I know you will enjoy her latest creation “earth day”.
