Kristina Contes totally DARES you!

May 7, 2008 | In: Scrapblog Challenge, Themes | By Rebecca

We are extremely excited to announce that talented artist, designer and scrapbooker, Kristina Contes has created some fun, funky and oh so cute backgrounds and sticker elements for Scrapblog. Her content can be found in the builder under one giant theme called “Kristina Contes” you can see the sample layouts in the theme gallery. The Kristina Contes collection is made up of 3 themes. A friendly little “Forest Creature” theme, a totally cute “Little Monsters” theme and a retro “Kitchy” theme. All the backgrounds and sticker embellishments are hand created by Kristina, she also added some to-die-for frame stamps. She has created over 75 sticker embellishments and 14 background papers so you can get really creative.

Not only is Kristina a talented artist, she also co-authored a book called “We Dare You: Scrapbook Challenges About Real Life.” This week, Kristina and Scrapblog are going to “dare you” to think outside the typical scrapblog or scrapbook layout and open your mind to creating something different. We will be adding a new “dare” everyday for the remainder of the week. Just tag your scrapblog “Dare” and the number (like today’s challenge will be “Dare32″) so we can find it. At the end of the month, Kristina will chose her favorite “dare” scrapblog and we have an exciting prize package for the winner.

Today Kristina is daring you to:

Dare 32
Hey…what’s your sign?
It’s a great pick up line…
And admit it, astrology is intriguing.
So scrap your sign people.

Have fun and push your creativity! Here’s My take on Kristina’s challenge:

Carlos flipped! (stickers)

May 2, 2008 | In: New Features, Tips & Tricks | By Carlos Garcia

Yes! Now, you can flip stickers like pancakes on a Sunday morning. Does this mean that there’re four times the stickers? No, but your creative possibilities have increased exponentially.

We’d love to see how flipping sparks your creativity. If you use the flipping feature, tag your scrapblogs “flipped” so that we can find them and feature them here.

Pookeycat’s Friday Five

May 2, 2008 | In: The Friday Five | By Pookeycat

Hi everyone! Amy here, although you probably know me as Pookeycat. I was asked to select this week’s Friday Five. What an honor! I love going through all the layouts and I get so much inspiration from so many of them! Each time to go through new creations, I find more new and wonderful things! I knew that the Friday Five was not going to be an easy task! There were so many great blogs that all deserve recognition and it was hard to limit myself to just 5!

When I started my journey to select my five this week, I decided to start with one of my favorite things - Vacations! Not only are these a great inspiration for me to work more on my own vacation albums, but I found so many more wonderful places that I would love to visit!! Let’s go on a little adventure together….

Our first adventure is to Ireland thanks to TheShannons! The simplicity of this collection was so refreshing! I really loved the “postcard” look to the photos on each of the pages! These looked as though they were actual postcards that one would pick up while on vacation! I have never been to Ireland, but this collection made me feel like I was right in the middle of it all.

The next stop on our travelings takes us to Gettysburg with Jill715. The first thing that grabbed my attention about this collection was the wonderful use of stickers! What a wonderful walk through history! Creating each of the pages using the large “pages” sticker gives the grand illusion of actually paging through a history book! I really hope someday to make a trip to Gettysburg with my son ~ a new destination added to my life’s itinerary!

Continuing our journey we now find ourselves on a Smokey Mountain Adventure compliments of Alyann85. I have always wanted to visit the Smokey Mountains and this scrapblog moves that desire up a notch or two! The use of colors and embellishments is wonderful! The photos tend to pull you right in so that you feel like you are right there in the mountains with her! I especially love the last page with the playful bears! Wonderful job! Keep scrapping along!!

Next it’s a roadtrip with Vacation102007 featuring Crenshaw777. This blog takes us from Nashville to Delaware with several stops in between. She also has many other travel blogs that she has completed and it was hard to pick just one to add here! Road trips are always fun and this album really shows that! I thought we were the only ones that took photo’s of our food when we were on vacation! This blog is simply pictures. No stickers or other embellishments, just simple backgrounds to help tell the story! Well done!!!

We now head back over the great oceans for the final stop on our journey and join Dawn’s New Zealand Vacation with alydyana as our tour guide. From my first look at the collection, I was mesmerized! Every time I pull up this album I have to look through it a few times before I can pull myself away! Right from the first page, you are pulled into the timeless beauty of New Zealand and what it has to offer. Although there is not a lot of journaling in this collection, the photo’s themselves tell the story. Excellent work! I look forward to seeing more in the future!

This task was tough but I had a lot of fun doing it! Hope you enjoy what I have found to spotlight this week! Happy Creating and Keep (Scrap)Blogging on!!

Amy
