Carlos’ picks for the Friday 5

June 27, 2008 | In: Journaling, The Friday Five | By Carlos Garcia

The other day I realized that I have never chosen the Friday 5. That is simply inexcusable. So here I am, trying to redeem myself. I have to admit, it is more difficult than I expected. So many great scrapblogs by so many passionate people to choose from and I have to select only 5! Should I select among the ones that I like the most? Sure, but based on what criteria. Should it be based on artistic value, journaling or storytelling? Should I lean towards the ones the make me smile or the most heartfelt ones. Maybe I should also take into consideration the scrapblogging techniques implemented in the scrapblogs that I choose. Well, I tried to take all these into consideration and came up with this shortlist of my recent favorites.

Hot Wheels
- by ShannonParks
In the recent days, this scrapblog has become one of my all-time favorites. It makes me smile because I used to play with Hot Wheels as a kid and now I see my son, Lorenzo (4) enjoying that as well.

Megan’s Yearbook 2008 - by MeganBrooke
Were you part of the yearbook club? I wasn’t and there’re only two pictures of me in my high-school yearbook. So, why not created your own yearbook in Scrapblog. Megan did.

Ballet Portraits - by Octamom
Simply beautiful. Good photography and consistent use of a good font.

Tully’s Afternoon
- by Aberbird

Boys in Spring - by Alannarusnak

Scrap Your Favorite Movie!

June 25, 2008 | In: Scrapblog Challenge | By Rebecca

We are always looking for more ways to have fun here at Scrapblog and recently, some of you have been chatting on the forum about creating some challenges. Little_m asked me to add a special section to the forum called “Challenges” and there you can post challenges, chat about what you are working on and generally get inspired.

The first challenge posted has been titled “Scrap Your Favorite Movie.” You can get all the details by checking out the thread Challenge 01.

Personally, I enjoy going to the movies, I think the challenge for me would be to keep my brain from wandering to thoughts of popcorn, dancing candy and reclining seats. As I got totally lost in my movie daydreams I remembered that I recently saw a scrapblog about just that - the movies!

Joe B’s at the drive-in

HOWEVER, this challenge is NOT about GOING to the movies, it’s a challenge to create a scrapblog about your favorite movie. Little_m kicks off this challenge in her usual, uber-creative style. Check out her favorite movie, The Swan.

Carnival Cruise Line Partnership

June 24, 2008 | In: Press Releases | By Rebecca

We are very excited to announce our partnership with Carnival Cruise Lines. Through the Carnival Connections website, “Fun Ship” cruisers can create their very own, multi-media scrapbooks using Scrapblog.

Showing off your vacation photos and videos has never been more fun and you can reminisce with your cruising buddies about your fabulous Carnival Cruise vacation. Ahh, cruising - the food, the wine, feeling the wind on your face from the open sea, dancing until dawn or simply relaxing by the pool - an amazing vacation full of wonderful memories.

There are five different “Fun Ship”-themed scrapblogs available, one theme for each of Carnival’s most popular destinations: the Caribbean, Bahamas, Mexico, Alaska and Europe. Scrapblogs are the perfect way to document your adventures on the high seas and share your vacation memories with your friends and family. If you have photos from your previous Carnival Cruise vacation, why not make a Scrapblog to remember how much fun you had?

Check out these related articles from Mashable, Center Networks and The John Heald Blog.

Look what Kathy Anderson created with her vacation photos!

Below are some sample pages from each of the five themes:

Bahamas

Mexico

Friday Five (a little late today)

June 20, 2008 | In: The Friday Five | By Rebecca

So, Hey! It’s Rebecca! I have a special treat for you today. I met Bekka Bess and PAScrapgal (who was featured last week on the blog) last weekend in Nashville. Here’s a photo of them - aren’t they the cutest ever?! It’s such a treat for me to meet Scrapbloggers in person and I hope to meet all of you someday!

Bekka has chosen the Friday Five for this week. I know you will love her choices, she has great taste! Enjoy!

One:

Music 100% 24/7 by LoLmusicRBK - The composition of this scrapblog rocks!!! And the music fits perfectly.

Two:

Dream in Black and White by addibug - I love how much she did with just black and white. There are some gorgeous photos here.

Three:

Zander by Anniek - I think the 2nd page of this scrapblog won me over. I love the variety of pages used.

Four:

My Boys by Kristi Jones — I love how she incorporates several videos into her scrapblog.

Five:

Summmmerr by Lien005 - I really like the use of couple photos and photos without people to create a theme.

How how great are Bekka’s choices??? She’s a doll, go check her out, leave a comment and have a happy Friday!
