Hello Fellow Scrapbloggers! Happy Halloween from the crew here at Scrapblog! To celebrate, I wanted to show off some of the AWESOME halloween scrapblogs that I’ve seen around the site the last couple of days. Don’t forget to take lots of pictures of your costumes and use one of the 7 chilling scrapblog themes to create something fun to share with your friends & family! Enjoy!
Hello Fellow Scrapbloggers! We have a special treat for you today, an early Friday Five! Tomorrow we will have a theme so I wanted to bring to you Chilypepah’s Friday Five choices early.
If you haven’t met Chilypepah, you are really missing out! She is a fun and talented Scrapblogger who is always around encouraging other scrapbloggers. I really love having her as part of our community! She told me that this task was harder than she expected, but choosing the five was a lot of fun. I know you will enjoy her choices (and her commentary). Great work!
#2. “Amazingly Autistic” by jennagilkes
Great photos, great information. You can feel the love that went into making this scrapblog.
#3. “A Man Among Men” by MsMary
This scrapblog is what it’s all about for me. A way to present and preserve history in a photo format.
I think this scrapblog would make a great coffee table book for generations to come.
#4. “In Memory of Chris” by jabbyjaw
This is a very heartfelt and touching tribute that is jam packed with feeling.
#5. “Things to do with a Pumpkin” by Teenkabell
Can you say fun, fun, fun! Teenkabell created every page to be an artwork that is just plain ole fun to look at!
We are VERY excited to announce (officially) our co-sponsorship of the Digital Scrapbooking Day Challenge with Digital Scrapbooking Magazine. I know it may seem early to be thinking about the Holidays and Holiday cards, but we know you want to have plenty of time to put together your design and have them printed in time to be sent to your friends and family. Of course we didn’t say you have to create a Scrapblog about the December holidays. If Halloween is on your mind or Thanksgiving or any other Holiday, feel free to include those scrapblogs in this challenge. We have already had over 150 scrapblogs created! The official Digital Scrapbooking Day is this Saturday and we will be showcasing some of the finalists on the blog as well as some other fun activities.
Check out the scrapblog below for all the details. Don’t miss out on the fun and the prizes! Five winners will receive 50 prints of their winning card design AND a year’s subscription to Digital Scrapbook Magazine. Good Luck!
Wow! It’s been a week already and I haven’t blogged. I’m sorry. We have been very busy bees here at Scrapblog and next week is going to be REALLY fun. We have a wonderful challenge going on next week, so keep your eyes on the blog and the newsletter for all the details.
This week’s Friday Five comes from Challenge 10 - Scrapblog Your Hobby. We were a bit dissapointed that we didn’t see more participation from this challenge, but we are so EXCITED that some of you chose Scrapblog as your favorite hobby. What an honor for us! Here are some of the community favorites:
My Fav Hobby created by lolamarie. We love the imagery and the photos, especially on page 5.
Ginnymo’s scrapblog about her love for creating things with photos is not only interesting, but we loved seeing her creations. Photos are a fun way to be creative and of course using scrapblog to display them is super creative as well!
Radio Active by nbarch is rich in detail and music. We loved the radio clips that he cleverly included. It’s so cool that radio show’s like his are still going strong.
Scubadeb shares with us her favorite hobby (and mine too!) Scubadiving! This scrapblog takes you away to a tropical paradise and under the sea. The bright colors and the beautiful photos really make her scrapblog stand out and we love her witty sense of humor.
The winner of this challenge has a very interesting an unique hobby. One that I’ve never heard about before. I was fascinated by all 33 pages! The title alone is very intriguing, I Used to Doll A Lot, by brujahrose speaks of her time spent creating and trading digital dolls. She even includes a video portfolio on page 32. Congratulations brujahrose for winning the challenge!
Thank you to everyone that participated in this week’s challenge! Keep up the excellent work!
Hello fellow scrappers, I’m flattered to have been asked to choose this weeks “Friday Five” and I hope you agree with me that they are indeed special creations from some very talented people. It was a great pleasure to browse forever through endless scrapblogs and learn something from each and every one. In my choices, I watched for feeling obtained through the use of colors, music, and photos. I tend to prefer those scrapblogs with a truly meaningful message to convey, whether it be underlying and subtle or it be straight forward and bold. I am also partial to a complete page package tied up in a bow, as all aspects of the page co ordinate and fit the pages theme as well as tie into the overall scrapblog theme. There is nothing more basic than black and white and the strength in that alone is appealing. Simplicity of content (but not necessarily meaning) in conjunction with black and white is so appropriate in my opinion. My black and white choices are perfect examples of that. I love each of these five scrapblogs for many different reasons and feel they are all a feast of sights and sounds. I looked for the use of untraditional or outside the box ideas. I hope you agree that this weeks “Friday Five” are all worthy of the title.
Happy scappin, Alice aka Teenkabell

Scrapblog: Inspiration
Argalla has achieved a calm, soothing feel through her music and the pale, muted colors she used. Her jou rnaling consists of meaningful messages coodinating with her design work and photos. I love that she used lots and lots of elements/stickers on each and every page, but not to an overwhelming degree. Her layers and overlapping, the choice of photos, and the welcoming feel of this scrapblog are a feast for the eyes and ears.

Scrapblog: winter’s desolate sorrow
As I turned these pages, I quickly got a sense of serenity, a peaceful quietness, alone time. The gradient tool was used nicely here and the backgrounds seem to correspond or fit the emotion the photo gives. I love the black and white, with variations of grey, and the added butterfly to each page symbolizing hope, with the touch of color on the last page for renewel, were a nice touchs. The simplicity of this SB was pefect for the topic.

Scrapblog: Trash the Dress
This scrapblog fascinated me because it has both a rough, rugged feel, right along side a soft, femine feel. The textures she uses in page backgrounds, the environment the pictures are set in, and the elements she accents with, as well as the cold brick wall settings for the photos, give a hard, rough illusion. But, the soft, elegant, beauty of the dress and femine female give a complete opposite feel. She’s balanced the two wonderfully. Using darker colors and lighting in the photos adds a bit of mystery for the imagination. Her design work is simple, but accented effectively. The photos themselves have enough story and emotion going on within them that the page didn’t have to be busy. I love the uniqueness of this scrapblog.

Scrapblog: Nachwey
Again I love the strength of the black and white, but the theme is much more powerful and moving. I love the repetion of the photo with overlapping the same. This was an informative, personal bio bit, as well as conveying the true message of the scrapblog through the photographs. An ugly worldwide topic, presented in a very beautiful, classy way. This one touched me.

Scrapblog: Love is…
Here a thorough description of love is given through sight and sound. This scrapblog has a variety of feelings and emotions serging through each page, from lighthearted humor to steamy passion, which makes it appealing to all personalities. I love how she used different fonts, different colors in the words, and different sizes in the text all in the same sentence. Very appealing to the eye and allowed her to put emphasis where she wanted it. The video/song choices were a variety of types and sounds, again appealing to all personalities. This is a well thought out scrapblog.
