Today I want to share with you a technique that is popular in scrapbooking called “distressing.” It’s an easy way to add texture and interest to your scrapblog pages.
You can take your pages from: To this:
To create this look, I chose to start with a theme - I’m using the QUEEN of EVERYTHING card template that Jen created for Mother’s day. I am only using page three of this template. When you select a theme, all the stickers and backgrounds used to create the theme are added to your tray. For this theme, three coordinating backgrounds are included:
Distressing and “grunge” are about messing up clean, crisp images. In the paperworld, you can use ink and other tools and in scrapblog, you can layer stickers to get the effect that you want. For this page, I chose to swap out the light cream color background with a darker brown one that came with the theme. Next, we want to find some stickers that will help to create the distressed look. Click the stickers tab and then click “get stickers.” On the left, you will see three links, click the “style” link.
Here you will find “distressed” and “grunge” labels. These are special tags we’ve added to stickers to help you better find what you are looking for. Choose “grunge” for this project. These are some of my all time favorite stickers.
You can choose one or several and just start adding them to your page. Don’t worry that you are going to mess up! Unlike ink, digital distressing can be undone easily, just by clicking on the “undo” arrow in the right hand corner of the Scrapblog builder canvas.
Another fun way to add texture and that distressed look to your pages is to add some metal stickers. In the Scrapblog Marketplace, under the “stores” tab, we have a new store that offers high quality, beautiful metal stickers. On page 3 of the stores tab, click “Vintaj” Here you will find unique brass, silver and copper sticker elements that will add texture and depth to your pages.
I added a couple of stickers and replaced the existing frame with one of the metal stickers from Vintaj. I spent 90 credits ($1.80) and I have a beautiful page as well as unique stickers that I can use again and again on other creations.

Hello Fellow Scrapbloggers! -
Today begins our week of SCRPABOOKING! I know not everyone making scrapblogs is a “scrapbooker” but we feel like whenever you share a story or events of your life, you’ve created a “scrapbook”.
According to Wikipedia.org: Scrapbooking is a method for preserving personal and family history in the form of photographs, printed media, and memorabilia contained in decorated albums, or scrapbooks. The idea of keeping printed materials of personal interest probably dates to shortly after the invention of printing. This trend is probably similar for photographs.
This Saturday, May 2, 2009 is International Scrapbook Day. On Saturday, we will be giving away special prizes and every scrapblog made on Saturday will be entered into a drawing for a super-special prize. You won’t want to miss all the fun!

Friday Five time is upon us once again!
I say we all get together for more Fridays in the week. My humble opinion is that we need at least 2. And maybe 2 Saturdays…what do you all think? That way we would have more time to get those last minute things done with 2 Fridays and then have an extra day to relax with the second Saturday. No longer would Sundays be dreaded, because you had an extra Saturday to do your chores!
What about it, are we writing a letter to congress or what?
In celebration of Fridays everywhere, here is this week’s Friday Five:
