We are very excited to announce our partnership with Carnival Cruise Lines. Through the Carnival Connections website, “Fun Ship” cruisers can create their very own, multi-media scrapbooks using Scrapblog.
Showing off your vacation photos and videos has never been more fun and you can reminisce with your cruising buddies about your fabulous Carnival Cruise vacation. Ahh, cruising - the food, the wine, feeling the wind on your face from the open sea, dancing until dawn or simply relaxing by the pool - an amazing vacation full of wonderful memories.
There are five different “Fun Ship”-themed scrapblogs available, one theme for each of Carnival’s most popular destinations: the Caribbean, Bahamas, Mexico, Alaska and Europe. Scrapblogs are the perfect way to document your adventures on the high seas and share your vacation memories with your friends and family. If you have photos from your previous Carnival Cruise vacation, why not make a Scrapblog to remember how much fun you had?
We developed Scrapblog using Adobe products, particularly Flex. So naturally, we’re pleased to have been selected as Adobe’s site of the day! According to Adobe, they “recognize websites based on their use of strong visual designs, superior functionalities, and innovative uses of Adobe products. We want to give credit to the creative and engineering talent behind the scenes.”
We developed the Scrapblog Builder using Adobe’s Flex 1.5 and then Flex 2. Yesterday, Adobe announced their launch of Flex 3 Public Beta, which we will use to further develop Scrapblog’s functionalities.
New Multimedia Scrapbooks Designed for the ‘Online Generation’
MIAMI, FL - April 2, 2007 - Scrapblog™ today announced availability of its free web-based multimedia scrapbook authoring software service. In development for over two years, Scrapblog lets everyday people mix their photos, videos, audio, text and other creative elements to create multimedia scrapbooks called scrapblogs.
Scrapbloggers can aggregate content from their computer or their favorite social media sites including YouTube, Photobucket, Flickr, Yahoo! Photos, and Webshots. Scrapblogs can be shared with just a few friends or the entire world; currently Scrapblog supports direct publishing to Blogger, Typepad, Wordpress, Flickr, MySpace, Facebook and other popular social networking platforms.
Upon saving their first scrapblog, Scrapbloggers receive a unique URL, where he or she can display their Scrapblogs in the same way Flickr users manage photos. Like Flickr, the Scrapblog URL can be kept private or made public. New users do not need to register in order to start creating scrapblogs.
“We believe the next wave of user-generated content will be remixed and designed online. Scrapblog is leading the way for new generation of online services that will unleash new forms of creative media that have not previously existed. The creativity and storytelling that traditional scrapbookers enjoy is now available to the online generation. We made it drag-and-drop-easy so that our friends and family could express themselves online without any need for technical know-how,” said Carlos Garcia, co-founder and CEO of Scrapblog.
Scrapblogs can be created from scratch or with one of the provided themes. Users can add stickers and balloon comments to add context to their creations. A single page may contain photos that become alive with embedded video or audio clips. Scrapbloggers can also upload their own creative elements or add an entire theme of their own, suitable for anything from a road trip or holiday gathering.
Scrapblog also announced Series A funding from Longworth Venture Partners. “The timing is perfect for us to welcome outside capital.”, said Garcia. “In Longworth, we found a venture partner who shares our vision of where social media is headed and the importance of ‘design online’ tools.”
Chris Shipley, executive producer of DEMO Conferences and CEO of Guidewire Group has praised Scrapblog, which was first announced at DEMO in October. “There’s a lot to like about it. Scrapblog takes photo sharing into the realm of creative expression. The software is extraordinarily well designed, sporting one of the most usable interfaces I’ve seen. The openness to photo-sharing sites, publishing options and pricing make the product as easy to adopt as it is to use.”
“The amount of smooth control over layout that Scrapblog allows is really impressive. It’s a tool that will appeal beyond the usual scrapbook demographic and could be of great use in making things like artist portfolios and online graphic presentations. Scrapblog is lots of fun… It’s like having Photoshop Elements on the web,” noted Marshal Kirkpatrick in his review of Scrapblog on TechCrunch.
