Take a Trip! Friday Five

June 19, 2009 | In: The Friday Five | By Meg

Hello out there in Scrapblog land!
You all know I LOVE travel Scrapblogs. I just get so inspired by all of the great travel photos out there, and since I haven’t done a lot of traveling myself (yet!) I adore looking and dreaming at the places I will visit one day. What better way to showcase your travel photos than by making a Scrapblog out of them? Whether its Big Bear Lake (a popular vacation spot on Scrapblog) or Thailand, your travel blogs are always such a joy for us to experience vicariously. We love to see the things you did, the people you met, the wildlife you found, and oh, the souvenirs!

This weeks Friday Five is about — you guessed it– Travel. Here are some of my fave pics of travelogues this week:

Title: Port Lympne
Author: smartcookies
Our first stop is the Port Lympne Zoo in Kent, England. Fascinating wildlife and eye-catching layouts make this Scrapblog great fun to look at. I did a search on the Port Lympne Zoo, and there’s so much to do there, it looks like they had a great time! Now I know where I’m going the next time I visit England…

Title: Adriatic
Author: dneilg
With it’s ancient architecture and decidedly European charm, Dneilg’s trip to Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia must have truly been the trip of a lifetime. The full color photos of little cobblestone streets and gorgeous night shots are nicely set off by her great layouts.

Title: Valentines Weekend Getaway
Author: Kim McKenzie
The little town of Eureka Spring, Arkansas is just the kind of little town you’d expect to find on a movie set. With it’s fascinating history, museums, beautiful caverns and lakes, it looks like the kind of town that would be hard to pass if one found themselves driving through. They even got to see some snow! All of that makes for one magical Valentine’s getaway!

Title: Port Aransas
Author: alisonthemonster
Take a road trip to Port Aransas, TX with Alison and her family as they travel 4 hours on nothing but open road. It looks like they had a blast at this beachy getaway! Her scrapblog almost makes me feel like I was part of the fun.

Title: Hansens trip to train station
Author: best grandma 2 u
All Aboard! Looks like The Hansen family had a blast on their trip to Union Station in Ogden, UT. They got to play on the trains and spend some quality family time together as they cataloged their trip with these great photographs. With super creative eye-popping layouts, and great sticker placement, this Scrapblog of Union Station sure makes it look like the perfect place for a family outing.

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday Fellow Scrapbloggers!

This week has been extremely exciting. I think that it’s the onset of summer, but everyone around me seems to be in a positive mood. This week’s Friday Five was a bit challenging. There are always so many wonderful new scrapblogs created everyday and I find myself getting lost in every story, every photo and every wonderful image that you create. Thank you, thank you for being so amazing! {HUGS}

So how did I ever decide on the five for today? I started with a theme in mind “art journal” and that led me on a journey of discovery. I really hope you enjoy these fabulous friday five choices. Have an AWESOME weekend!

I don’t know if it’s her edgy charm or her body covered in ink, but I find Kat Von D, extremely fascinating. I love how Bombshell67 displays her photos in this artistic fan scrapblog.

Bramblerose2 shows off beautiful photos of the ruins of Cambodia, a place I’ve always wanted to visit. Her pages are peaceful, calm and inviting.

My Journal is a small sample of some amazing photos of the everyday. Like fotologic, I am too fascinated my taking pictures of ordinary things. There is something mysterious about photographing the micro world around us.

Title: My Journal
Author: fotologic

This scrapblog sort of breaks my theme of photo journaling, but I fell in love with the colors and the pictures of this family trip to the zoo.

Title: Naples Zoo
Author: JeanneHolland

This scrapblog is so striking and beautiful. I love the layering and the complexity of working in the photography to tell a story. I believe this is going to be a gift, who wouldn’t LOVE to get a book like this? Amazing!

Another week full of fabulous creations. Enjoy your weekend!

The Friday Five

May 29, 2009 | In: The Friday Five | By Meg

Hello Scrapbloggers!
Just when you think you can relax and slow down because there are no holidays in site, here comes another one to look forward to! Father’s Day is just around the bend, and we’re already starting to see some Father’s Day projects come through. Creative juices are really flowing, so keep up the good work!

I’ve also seen some really great Scrapblogs created for the user challenges. Everyone really outdoes themselves for the triumph and pride of getting to be the challenge winner. The possibilities are endless, and the amount of beautiful, original work I see is quite impressive! Whether users incorporate the content from the Content Marketplace, or take advantage of the free content we have to offer, the unique Scrapblogs popping up never cease to amaze us. Here are my picks for this week’s impressive Scrapblogs:

Title: Welcome MusicJan
Author: Mommy Victory
I have visions of a great big Scrapblog meetup one day so that we can all get to know each other. Mommy Victory and MusicJan got a head start and cemented their online friendship over lunch.
Looks like they had a lot of fun and started a great friendship in the process! Their experience was nicely documented with awesome layouts and very creative sticker use.

Title: Adoption Profile
Author: Magiedcat
After reading David and Erica’s profile, I’m kinda wishing they would adopt me! What they would do with a vivacious and occasionally sarcastic 28 year old is anyone’s guess…
Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading about their lives, their activities and the fun things they do together. They sound like really fun parents, and any kid out there would be more than glad to have them.

Title: ava and ethan
Author: CandraGeorge
Cute kid alert! This sweet little scrapblog showcases some of the most adorable kids I’ve seen. The layouts are truly delightful and springy, and I love the simple yet elegant layering she used here.

Title: Groovy Kind of Love
Author: Legally_Blonde
This is a super fun scrapblog of “the way they were”. It reminds me of stories my mom used to tell me about her experiences growing up in the 70’s. I love the super creative use of stickers and backgrounds that really make those misty water-colored memories pop.

Title: My Collection Obsession
Author: little_m
Little_m never ceases to impress with her ultra colorful and unique layouts and great eye for color. Her attention to detail is amazing, and one can just imagine how fun her house must be to visit looking at all of the photos of the things she collects.

The Friday Five

May 8, 2009 | In: The Friday Five, Tips & Tricks | By Meg

With all the card orders we’ve received, it’s definitely hard to miss Mother’s Day, even if you’re not a mom! Mother’s Day is drawing near…did everyone remember to get mom that special gift she’s always wanted? If not, you’ve only got 2 days left! What are you waiting for? Go, go, go!

Seriously, though, moms ARE the greatest, aren’t they? They are responsible for your presence in this world, and not only that, they back you up when you need it. Moms are always there to be your best cheerleader, your best friend, and they’re one of the only people you can truly count on. Their love is unconditional. How many people can you say that about?

To all the moms, thanks for being you and have a Happy Mother’s Day.

Here are today’s Friday Five:

Title: 2009 Big Bear Lake Trip
Author: nazzamova
Simple layouts and sophisticated designs highlight the serenity of Big Bear Lake. I had never heard of this placid little town in California, but the more Scrapblogs I see about it, the more it makes me long to visit. I love her scrapbook-style logging of all of the details of their trip.

Title: Book of Adventures
Author: TNMassman
You can tell this Scrapblog is just jam-packed with the love these kids have for their mom. And what better way to show mom you appreciate her than to give her this great gift of memories of her children. It even has original poems. Any mom would love this!

Title: Home is where the heart is
Author: Shehla
I love the way that the children’s photos in this Scrapblog are cropped to make them look like they are right there in the layouts. The kids really are the star of the show, and the simple yet well put together layouts really help complement these great photos.

Title: So Natural
Author: ummehunein
Very vibrant photos full of color make this Scrapblog such a joy to look at. Ummahunein uses natural elements like grass and leaves to show off these great photos of her kids in a natural setting.

Title: My 1st Year
Author: EmmaReed
This sweet Scrapblog commemorates Caiden’s first year. I love how EmmaReed tied the whole Scrapblog together by using the same background throughout, but added variety with her layouts and beautiful photos.
