Helooooo Scrapbloggers!
Halloween is barely over, and already Thanksgiving is right around the corner. We’ve got some really fun stuff planned for the holidays at Scrapblog this year, and project ideas are brewing as we speak!
New content is popping up in the Marketplace and creative juices are flowing, so get ready for some great gift ideas here in the blog as well. Time sure does fly when you’re having fun!
This week’s Friday Five is an eclectic mix. We’ve got some after Halloween projects and activities, a garden, a blog about childhood, and even a barn! Something caught my attention in each of these Scrapblogs this week, and I’m sure they’ll catch your eye as well. Enjoy!

Title: Boo to you too
Author: best grandma 2 u
Best grandma 2 u always has something new to share with us in her Scrapblogs. I love her aesthetic and eye for color. Her layouts are always impeccable and her photos are always crisp and fun. This Scrapblog is no exception. Halloween happened to be a birthday for some of her family members as well–how exciting!

Title: Girls in Red
Author: Lost Girl
Lost Girl’s simple, sophisticated style lets her photos speak for themselves. In this Scrapblog, her girls enjoy a crisp fall day and make friends with the squirrels in their neighborhood.

Title: Scrappin’ the Barn
Author: little_m
You can be sure that anything Karen touches turns to beauty, even if its a plain, uninteresting layout or a photo of everyday life. She brings to life the colors and the magic of the event or season she’s scrapping in her Scrapblogs. This is one of her older Scrapblogs, made none the less special because of its age, of her sister’s scenic barn and property in Wisconsin. Gorgeous!

Title: Amauri’s trip to Moody Gardens
Author: Robin Woodard
Robin shares a wonderful experience with us of a trip to Moody Gardens through the eyes of her little girl. It looks like they had such great fun, as the colorful photos and bright, interesting layouts show. What a nice warm blast of sunshine amidst these Fall Scrapblogs!

Title: In the Halloween Spirit
Author: b.c.noazarc
Anyone hungry? You will be when you look at this Scrapblog. These delicious looking cookies are enough to make even the pickiest of eater’s mouth water. The charming layouts really modify the photos well. Great work!

Here are 5 frightfully delightful Scrapblogs that capture the spirit of Halloween:

Super cute Scrapblog about a very special surprise! I can only imagine the greatness that pumpkin will become when she carves it. It would be great to see photos of the before and after!

Title: brandons party
Author: akela
Even though this wasn’t intended as a Halloween Scrapblog, seeing all the great costumes in this very whimsical Scrapblog sure inspired me to get dressed up! It looks like a great time was had by all. Happy Birthday, Brandon!

The Friday Five

October 16, 2009 | In: The Friday Five | By Meg

Hello to all of you out there in Scrapblog land! Happy Friday!
Do you ever get the expectant feeling that something’s about to happen? Something big and life-changing? It’s almost a magical fairy dust-feeling in the air. It might have something to do with the fact that the weather is getting cooler and pressure changes make us feel slightly different when we just can’t put our finger on what’s changed. Or maybe it’s Halloween right around the corner, that magical night when nurses get to be doctors, little girls are transformed into princesses, and wallflowers get to be celebrities. Whatever it is, something is definitely brewing here at Scrapblog!
Now that I’ve got you pumped up and expecting greatness, here are my awesome Friday Five picks for the week:

Title: Silent Film
Author: emeralda
This has got to be one of the coolest school projects I’ve seen! I would have loved to have filmed a silent movie and am a bit disappointed that I didn’t think of it first.
I love the faces and the zany costumes, and of course I love the way that emerelda put it together nicely in a great Scrapblog for us! Check out the actual silent film when she puts it on Youtube.

Title: Melanie and Greg
Author: Lainee
This is just a really pretty wedding album with very nice photos. I love the way she superimposed photos of herself and the groom in the heart on page one. I was so inspired by the lacy sort of gothic/romantic feel of this Scrapblog (I might be hearing bells of my own soon!) and loved the way she combined elements with her photos to commemorate the dreamy feel of it all.

Title: Vincent Van Gogh in St. Remy
Author: SusieK
SusieK takes you on a tour of the beautiful St. Remy, France in this lush Scrapblog. Quaint passageways and gorgeous photos of the French countryside make this Scrapblog so enjoyable to look at, not to mention the beautiful layouts.

Title: Ghost Town
Author: Bavarian Gal
I was just enthralled by this very interesting Scrapblog about a Ghost Town in Arizona. Its fascinating how a town can be so successful at one time in history and then be quickly abandoned. I love the historical back story Bavarian Gal included in her Scrapblog and the intriguing photos she shares with us.

Title: Queen of the Night
Author: Chilypepah
The Queen of the Night flower is one of those mysteries of nature, a flower that blooms at night and is a pretty unremarkable and normal-looking plant otherwise. But what a beautiful bloom! Chilypepah captures the magic of this plant for us in her Scrapblog full of gorgeous photos.

The Friday Five

October 9, 2009 | In: The Friday Five | By Meg

Inspiration is an interesting thing. Dictionary.com defines inspiration as the action or power of moving the intellect or emotions. So what’s the difference between being inspired and just using someone else’s ideas? I guess that’s open to interpretation, but I just find it so interesting that 2 people can be inspired by the same thing and each come up with something totally different. And how different people can be inspired in so many different ways. It makes me appreciate the diversity in the people around me. Without inspiration and diversity, wouldn’t things like art and music be boring?
What inspires you? What moves your intellect or emotions so much that it drives you to create, to cook, to draw, paint, sing? Everything in this world around you can be inspiration, if you take the time to look.
Let this week’s Friday Five inspire you to create something beautiful. Make your mark and enjoy!

Title: My FaV ChildHooD MeMorieS
Author: tinkerbell
I’m fascinated by old photos. I always wonder how the people in the photos felt, how they lived, what their story was. These are some of tinkerbell’s favorite family photos, and she puts them all together in a whimsical and very colorful compilation.

Title: lil bro bro
Author: staciemay31
I really like staciemay’s creative photos. She took photos she had previously altered and placed them in Scrapblog. Then she added elements to them. Her Scrapblog is just an example of how creative you can be. I love the sophistication the monochromatic tones give this blog, also.

Title: Lil Cougars
Author: ekclaros
I love the clean layouts and creative way she incorporated every team member’s photo into her pages. This Scrapblog is fresh, interesting, and very inspiring.

Title: Pirate Party 2009
Author: Solshyn
This pirate party looked like such a blast! What is it about dressing up and being someone else for a day that appeals to us so? I love her great photo cropping and use of stickers to make this one awesome Scrapblog. Arrrr!

Title: Isle Royale
Author: swen333
Clean, simple layouts really just set off swen’s photos so well. Nature’s beauty takes over as the inspiration for this Scrapblog, and how can this natural beauty not inspire you to get out and do some traveling of your own? Maybe I’m a bit biased, travelogues are one of my fave types of Scrapblog…

A Thousand Words Friday Five

October 2, 2009 | In: The Friday Five | By Meg

Photos can be so powerful and profound. They can express an emotion, capture a memory, even share moments with loved ones who are far away. Where would we be without a certain man named Louis Daguerre? Without his invention of the Daguerrotype, photos wouldn’t exist! I have to say, and maybe I’m biased because photos are such a big part of my life, that the photograph is one of the greatest inventions of mankind. In appreciation of Mr. Daguerre and his fabulous invention, here are 5 Scrapblogs that are not only great, but have great photos to show off as well!

Title: JJ Photo Shoot Summer 2008
Author: AutumnA13
Not only are these beautiful photos, but Autumn’s super creative and well put-together layouts just really add a nice touch and bring together this Scrapblog quite well.

Title: Wyatt 10 Months
Author: ~Mel~
We get to see baby Wyatt grow like a weed in this sweet Scrapblog! I love the creative use of stickers in this one, and the photos are poignant and capture the joy of becoming a new parent.

Title: Engagement Story
Author: TanyaBR
This tender Scrapblog chronicles a couple’s special moments throughout their engagement. I love how she lets the photos tell the story, creating memories they they can share with their family for years to come. Sometimes details can get fuzzy over they years, but this Scrapblog captures those quiet moments that won’t be forgotten.

Title: Up at the Cabin
Author: Tracy P.
I love Tracy P.’s gorgeous photos of her cabin in Lily Lake, Wisconsin. She captures the small details that make this vacation spot so special to her and really draws the viewer in with the way she displays them. I love how simple and clean the lines in her layouts are.

Title: My Friend And Her Puppy
Author: coll
A really cute and creative Scrapblog. I love the adorable pet photos, I guess I never get tired of looking at cute animals. There’s something about those expressive eyes and wet noses that gets me every time!
