How to use patterns in a scrapblog

August 15, 2007 | In: Tips & Tricks | By Alex

This tutorial covers using patterns in your scrapblogs. It is of medium difficulty and assumes you know how to use shapes and text boxes and how to layer them on top of one another. If you have any questions on these topics, please send an email to feedback@scrapblog.com

William Shakespeare’s “Sonnet 30″ accompanies the pensive moods of Louie and Havanne, the cats in this “Sweet Silent Thought” scrapblog. The scrapblog contains:
2 landscape photographs
3 text boxes
3 star shapes
7 box shapes
3 stickers (the two birds are a single sticker)
1 background

Can you identify these elements?

To use a pattern, select a rectangular box from the shapes section in the left hand side asset bar. Drag the box onto the workspace and resize as required:

Next, get some backgrounds from the background section in the asset bar. Select those which look like patterns and drop them into the box you just placed. If they are patterns, they will fill the box. If they are backgrounds, they will fill the whole workspace and you can just press the undo button on the right:

Finally, place the other boxes and stars and fill them with patterns, as illustrated below. Some of the boxes do not use a pattern; rather, they use a background color:

Finally, add the stickers and photos to complete your masterpiece. We look forward to your creations!

I was thinking that I might try uploading more backgrounds, patterns and clipart from my computer in the photos and use the layering to make a unique scrapbook. It should work, I’ll try it and see.
